More About the New Duets Album
The Secret of Life is a sequel to Streisand’s chart-topping 2014 album, Partners. That project included duets with Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, Lionel Richie, Blake Shelton, Michael Bublé, and John Mayer, among others.
In a video trailer for the forthcoming project, Barbra says, “I’ve always loved singing duets with gifted artists. They inspire me in unique and different ways… and make our time in the studio a joy! My new album … gave me the chance to work and play with some of my old friends, label mates, and new artists too. I admire all of them… and I hope that you’ll enjoy listening to our collaborations as much as I enjoyed recording with all of my wonderful partners.”
The promo includes footage of Streisand in the studio with McCartney, and of an excited Laufey chatting with Barbra on the phone.
The Secret of Life features McCartney on a duet version of his own solo song “My Valentine.” The tune, which the Beatles legend wrote for his wife, Nancy, first appeared on his 2012 standards album, Kisses on the Bottom.
Dylan teams up with Streisand for a rendition of the 1934 pop standard “The Very Thought of You.”
The Secret of Life gets its name from the 1977 James Taylor song “Secret o’ Life,” which Barbra recorded with James for the new album.
Streisand sings with both Carey and Grande on a song titled “One Heart, One Voice.”
Sting collaborates with Barbra on a rendition of his song “Fragile,” from his 1988 solo album Nothing Like the Sun.
