On July 4, 2024, Zach Bryan released his latest album with The Great American Bar Scene. Finding no better time to release the album than on Independence Day, the record came packed with collaborations. There was the song “Purple Gas” with Noeline Hofmann, “Better Days” with John Mayer, and even “Sandpaper” with The Boss himself, Bruce Springsteen. But among the songs was also a collaboration with John Moreland on “Memphis; the Blues.” While almost a year has passed since the album was released, it appeared that Bryan returned to the studio to redo the song without Moreland as the two continued their feud.

For those who might need a refresher, the incident all started when Bryan decided to sell his publishing catalog for a staggering $350 million. A massive paycheck for the singer, Moreland shocked fans when he wrote, “$350 M is a lot of money to pay for the f***** off-brand version of me. Y‘all have a great day”
It didn’t take long for the comment to reach Bryan, who also jumped on social media to share his thoughts. “Yooo just saw this from an artist I’ve always respected and supported. Not trying to be dramatic but refuse to have anyone with a problem with me on my records. Replacing Memphis the Blues. If it goes down for a bit just know this is the reason! No hard feelings! Confused as s**t, Tulsans look out for Tulsans!”
Keeping his word, Bryan recently revealed that his band member, J.R. Carroll would be taking over for Moreland as they re-recorded the song. Well, released just a few hours ago, Bryan dropped the new version of “Memphis; The Blues.”

As for the ongoing feud, it seemed to end when Bryan declared he wasn’t “partial to arguing with butt hurt grown men.” While some might think Moreland was nothing but jealous of Bryan for his massive payday, the singer decided to lay it all on the table.
Recalling what it was like to spend time with Bryan, Moreland revealed, “At this point I’ve hung out with him five, six times. I don’t like this motherf*****. Am I supposed to be upset? If I was asked to be on the album today I wouldn’t do it. I don’t want to be on an album with a dude who is a d***head to my wife and my friends right in front of me every time I see him. I don’t want to be on an album with a dude who I’ve heard tell borderline racist jokes more than once.”
That was just the start as Moreland added, “I don’t want to be on an album with a dude who brings a 19-year old girl in the bar, and then when they tell him she can’t be in there, looks at me like I’m supposed to have his f***** back. I don’t like that person.”
Not caring remotely what Bryan thought of him, Moreland ended his rant surrounding the country singer, admitting, “That’s who thinks I’m an a**hole? Fine. As far as I’m concerned, getting kicked off a Zach Bryan album is way f****** cooler than being on a Zach Bryan album.”
