Family of Country Star Swept Away by Devastating Texas Floods, 2 Confirmed Dead

Pat Green’s family has suffered a devastating loss. The country singer’s brother and sister-in-law, along with two of their children, were swept away by the Texas floods, his wife, Kori Green, revealed.

Pat first revealed his personal connection to the floods in an Instagram post.

“Over the weekend, during the devastating flooding that hit Central Texas, my family- like so many others-suffered a heartbreaking and deeply personal loss,” Green wrote. “We are grieving alongside countless Texans whose lives have been upended by this tragedy.”

“Right now, we kindly ask for privacy and space as we mourn, support each other, and begin to process what comes next for our family,” he continued. “Thank you for your love, prayers, and compassion.”

Shortly thereafter, Kori shared Pat’s statement on her own Instagram account. In the caption, she provided more details about the situation.

“We are so thankful for the outpouring of love and concern,” she wrote. “Pat’s little brother John, his wife, Julia, and two of their children were swept away in the Kerrville flood. We are heartbroken and anxiously waiting for all of them to be found. Thank you for your prayers.”

What Happened to Pat Green’s Family?

More details about the tragedy came from Lorena Guillen, the owner of the Blue Oak RV Park in Kerr County. She told The New York Post that the family had come to the RV park for the July 4 holiday.

When the flooding hit, John clung to his children in an effort to save them, Lorena said.

“My husband was in the water trying to ask them, ‘Please throw me your baby!’” she said. “The man was holding tight to his babies, and he just got swept away.”

KHOU reported that both John and Julia have been confirmed dead and their bodies have been recovered. The couple’s two young sons are still missing, according to the outlet. The couple’s daughter, who was attending a summer camp nearby, is safe, the outlet reported.

“We have been so blessed with all of the love, support, and prayers we’ve received over the past few days, and we cannot thank everyone enough,” Michael Schwab, Julia’s cousin, posted on X. ” Please continue to keep our families and all of the families affected throughout Texas in your prayers.”

So far, 104 people have been confirmed dead as a result of the floods.
