With a career dating back to the 1960s, Jeff Lynne, who helped found the rock band Electric Light Orchestra (ELO), hoped to celebrate his time in music with the Over and Out farewell tour. Throughout his time in the spotlight, the musician helped write hit songs like “Hold On Tight” and ‘Don’t Bring Me Down.” While the musician only had a few concerts left for the farewell tour, it appeared that the group needed to cancel their recent show due to a mysterious illness, a show that was set to be their second-to-last show ever.

Just a few days ago, Lynne took the stage without his guitar. An unusual moment for the musician, it happened after he broke his hand. Not sharing any details on how he broke his hand, the musician only told the crowd, “I’ve had a guitar in my hand all my life, but not tonight. Nothing would keep me away from you.”
While powering through the concert, it seemed there was something that could keep him from his fans. Again, not sharing why ELO needed to cancel one of their remaining shows in the farewell tour, the group wrote, “Unfortunately due to illness tonight’s scheduled performance of Jeff Lynne’s ELO at the Co-Op Live will not be going ahead.”
Jeff Lynne Shared His Excitement To Perform At London’s Hyde Park
Having performed with a broken hand, many fans wondered exactly what happened. The message added that Lynn was devastated over the decision. “Jeff is devastated he cannot perform this evening. More information will become available as soon as possible.”
As for fans who purchased a ticket to the canceled show, the message advised them to reach out to the point of purchase to start the refund process.
Looking ahead to ELO’s final show, the tour will end on July 13th when Lynn takes the stage at London’s Hyde Park. Thrilled about ending his career where it started, the musician said, “My return to touring began at Hyde Park in 2014. It seems like the perfect place to do our final show.” He added, “We couldn’t be more excited to share this special night in London with our U.K. fans.”
Although excited, only time will tell if Lynn can make it to the stage at Hyde Park for one final show, celebrating his legacy in the music industry.
