Jelly Roll Turns Online Hate Into Pure Gold in ‘Jimmy Kimmel’ Sketch

If our queen Taylor Swift taught us anything, it’s that “haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate.” As a face-tatted rapper-turned-country star who recently dropped 200 pounds, Jelly Roll knows this truth all too well. The “Need a Favor” singer has previously taken a step back from social media due to incessant online criticism. During his recent guest hosting appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Jelly (born Jason DeFord) decided to take a different approach.

Jelly Roll Claps Back Through Song

For two nights this week, Jelly Roll assumed guest hosting duties on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live. The CMA Award-winning artist, 40, took to the gig effortlessly, cracking jokes at his own expense about his weight and tattoos.

Toward the end of the monologue, the “Save Me” crooner turned briefly serious. “And most of all, I want to thank my fans. I literally would not be who I am without you,” he said. “Truly, truly amazing, truly amazing—well, most of you. Some of you are a–holes.”

“But you know what?” the Antioch, Tennessee-born artist continued. “I’ve never been the one to let my haters get me down. So tonight, I’m going to debut my brand-new single, and this entire song is going to be made up of comments that people have written about me online. Y’all want to hear it?”

Duh. “Can I sing a song / I said, can I sing a song? / About these hating a– b—-es on the Internet?” the country crooner began.

Assuring the audience that “every one of these are real,” Jelly took us through the dredges of social media. “Jelly Roll looks like a meth addict grabbed a microphone / Jelly’s just Lizzo for white people,” he sang.

Wrapping it all up nicely, the Grammy nominee sang, “You can’t clown me and tell me I suck / ‘Cause I don’t give a f—.”

No wonder he introduced himself as Post Malone.

Travis Kelce Responds to Jelly’s Taylor Swift Comment

Circling back to Taylor Swift, Jelly Roll recently made a bold claim about the “Anti-Hero” songstress. “Dude, she’s the GOAT. I will fist fight anybody who says otherwise,” he declared on The Pat McAfee Show last Wednesday, July 16.

His enthusiastic defense caught the attention of Swift’s boyfriend, three-time Super Bowl champ Travis Kelce. “my dawg is the realest!!” commented the Kansas City Chiefs tight end on Instagram, adding a pair of laughing and high-five emojis.
