Wanting to leave her mark in country music, Kaitlin Butts first entered the genre when she released her debut album in 2015 with Same Hell, Different Devil. Her latest album, Roadrunner!, dropped in 2024 and brought her into the spotlight thanks to the hit song “You Ain’t Gotta Die (To Be Dead To Me).” While continuing to carve her path in the music industry, recently, the singer shined a light not on herself but on her friend and tour manager, who was shocked when Kaitlin’s guitar player proposed.

Kaitlin knew that getting her friend, Sophia Wells, on stage was going to be hard. Especially, when knowing that her guitar player wanted to propose. Not wanting to give it away, the singer devised a plan to fake a wardrobe malfunction. It appeared to work perfectly as Wells quickly rushed on stage to help the singer with her corset. During that time, Kaitlin introduced the crowd to her friend. “We actually met here in Oklahoma City about 13 years ago. This is my college roommate from Oklahoma City. We went to college here. Say hello, Sophia.”

Apparently, their working relationship started when Sophia reached out to Kaitlin about her guitar player, who she declared was “really cute and really hot.” While asking if she needed a background singer, Kaitlin quickly offered her a job as tour manager. And as they say, the rest was history.
After telling her story, Kaitlin told Sophia she “should turn around right now.” Following the request, the manager was shocked to see the guitar player, Adam Duran, on one knee. Holding a ring in his hand, Sophia needed a moment as the crowd erupted with cheers.
Although not hearing if she said “Yes”, it was obvious given the love they shared on stage. Sophia even posted several pictures and videos of the special moment.
Shocked, thrilled, and excited, Sophia wrote, “Got engaged in front of 5,000 people this week and I don’t know if I will ever fully recover. On tour we joke that “the road giveth & the road taketh”…….well the road has officially given me the greatest gift of my life. A thousand times yes, my love.”
