Over the last few years, Luke Bryan released his latest album Mind of a Country Boy, helmed four tours, and found time to help judge on American Idol. Even with the country star spending over two decades in the genre, he continued to work around the clock. Not wasting a single moment, Bryan quickly learned that the body had limits. Having to battle through sickness during his recent concert, the singer promised that he would never try to fool his fans with lip-syncing.

The idea of lip-syncing might be a great way to preserve a singer’s voice, but for most fans, they find the tactic nothing more than a trick. Who could forget the infamous Saturday Night Live performance from Ashlee Simpson? When caught lip-syncing, the singer blamed the mishap on her band and even acid reflux. Even with the mishap happening in 2004, it continued to be an iconic moment in her career.
Speaking with Taste of Country Nights, Bryan insisted he would always perform live, no matter how good or bad. “At this point, I’ll never dive into the lip-syncing world. You’ll always be hearing me, whether it’s a little froggy or not.”
Luke Bryan Offers Advice For Rising Stars: “Tell The Fans”
Although knowing not every performance would be perfect, Bryan cared more about the fans who paid to see a live concert. “I’ll never try to fool anybody or sing around it.”
Again, with countless shows and tours, Bryan brought a great deal of knowledge to the stage. And for those who hoped to grab the spotlight in the future, he offered some sound advice for those who find their voice slipping. “Sometimes you’re so stressed about not being able to sing like you want to, if you tell the fans you’re under the weather.”
Bryan believed honesty was the best medicine, as he admitted, “It relaxes you a little bit and I’ll actually just start relaxing and singing better.”
Besides apologizing to fans when his voice failed him, Bryan also found that allowing the audience to join in made it special. Wanting to be authentic no matter what, it wasn’t that long ago that he decided to refund fans in Arkansas after battling an illness.
