Ashley McBryde is having a busy summer. The Grammy-winning country singer co-hosted CMA Fest alongside Cody Johnson back in June, even performing at Nissan Stadium. Just last week, she announced plans to launch “a new kind of bar” on Nashville’s famed Broadway Street. However, the life of a performer can wreak havoc on your body, particularly your vocal chords—which is why the “One Night Standards” singer, 42, has to get creative when mingling with fans at upcoming meet-and-greets.

In a video posted Wednesday (Aug. 6) to social media, McBryde revealed — utilizing flash cards and a very Eeyore-esque voiceover from singer-songwriter Shelly Fairchild —that she is dealing with a throat injury.
“So no talking if I want to be able to sing to you,” she emphasizes.
Continuing, the next card reads, “This would be a good time to practice some ASL.” McBryde then reviews some basic phrases like, “Hi,” “Nice to meet you,” and, “Good to see you.”
McBryde addressed her “Trybe” further in the caption. “Doc says I’m working on busted up vocal cords,” she wrote. “The last thing I wanna do is cancel any meet greets or Heaven forbid SHOWS. So let’s try this for this week!”
In the comments, fans submitted their well wishes. “If you did this the entire show, I’d still come and stay through the encore!!” one Instagram user wrote.
How Ashley McBryde Will Close Out 2025
In June 2022, Ashley McBryde made the choice to give up drinking alcohol. Now celebrating three years of sobriety, the three-time ACM Award winner is hoping to offer more options to any Nashville patrons on the same journey. She recently announced that her brand-new bar, Redemption, is coming to the fifth floor of Chief’s, Eric Church’s Broadway Street establishment. The bar-slash-music venue is unique in that it will prioritize non-alcoholic options for patrons.
Additionally, McBryde also announced that she will perform a four-night residency at Chief’s called “The Redemption Residency.” These shows will take place at the Neon Steeple performance venue inside Chief’s on October 14 and 15, as well as on December 11 and 12.
“The guys and I are so happy to be back in Nashville for four nights of ‘you had to be there’ moments to help close out this year,” the “Girl Goin’ Nowhere” singer said in a statement. “We’ve been making our kind of church wherever we go for years; from dive bars to back porches, Dahlonega to Lindeville. It’s something special to bring it all to the only Steeple on Lower Broadway.”
