According to recent reports, Young Scooter died as a result of an injury he sustained during a police chase. On March 28, police responded to a call about a “weapons disturbance” at a home in southeast Atlanta. When they arrived, Scooter allegedly fled on foot. The rapper jumped over two fences and injured his leg in the pursuit. He was promptly taken to the nearby Grady Marcus Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead.

According to police reports, none of the officers fired their guns at Bailey during the pursuit. So far, it looks like the musician may have injured his femoral artery in his thigh while jumping over a fence, which could have led to sudden and very fast bleeding. Currently, his cause of death is being investigated.

Fans and Contemporaries in the Atlanta Rap Scene Are Mourning the Loss of Young Scooter

Naturally, some fans are suspicious about Young Scooter’s death. But for the most part, the community is still in mourning.

“After witnessing y’all lie time and time again… I personally believe Y’ALL killed Young Scooter until proven otherwise,” said one fan in the comments of the Atlanta Police Department’s press conference involving Young Scooter’s passing. “Let us see ALLLLLLLLL body cams.”

“Rest in peace brother you had me locked in with your music back in 2015,” said another fan on Young Scooter’s Facebook page.

Young Scooter was famed rapper Future’s childhood friend and also happened to be one of the initial rappers to be signed to the latter’s Freebandz label in 2012. Scooter’s breakthrough record was released in 2013 and titled Street Lottery. After the success of that mixtape, Scooter went on to collaborate with greats in the industry like Gucci Mane, Young Thug, Rick Ross, and others.

In 2018, Young Scooter also gained prominence after he made it to the Billboard Hot 100 chart, namely through his guest feature on “Jet Lag” by Future and Juice WRLD.

We wish Young Scooter’s fans, family, and loved ones nothing but the best during this difficult time.
