Beloved Southern Rock and Country Musician Facing Serious Charges After Texas Arrest

Dedicating himself to a career in country music, Tanner Usrey crossed a major milestone in 2023 when he released his debut album Crossing Lines. With the singer gaining both praise and fans upon the release, he followed the album with These Days in 2025. Looking to make the most out of 2026, the country singer scheduled several performances. But Usrey might have to put his career on hold after being arrested in Texas for DWI and drug possession.

On March 30, Usrey was pulled over in Collin County, Texas, after law enforcement believed he was driving under the influence. Labeled DWI in Texas, police not only charged him with driving while intoxicated, but officers supposedly found drugs in the vehicle. A source close to the police department told Saving Country Music the charge was for fentanyl.

Considered 50 times stronger than heroin and 100 times stronger than morphine, the government waged war on fentanyl. According to USAFacts, in 2023, nearly 73,000 people died from overdosing on fentanyl. Thankfully, due to public outreach, that number has slowly decreased over the following years.

Tanner Usrey Released After Arrest

As for Usrey, he posted bail not long after police processed him. Presiding over the case was Collin County Magistrate Lisa Bronchett, who placed a few conditions on Usrey’s release. Bronchett only allowed the bond after ordering officials to install an ignition interlock device on Usrey’s vehicle.

Facing a long road of legal hurdles ahead, it’s unclear if the arrest will disrupt Usrey’s concert schedule. Over the next month, he had appearances at the Montgomery County Fair, Fiesta Oyster Bake, Larry Joe Taylor’s Texas Music Festival, and the Rock the Country Bellville.

That was just the start as Usrey planned shows throughout the summer and September. But again, with the charges still pending and legal proceedings just beginning, it remains uncertain whether he’ll be able to keep those commitments.

Not addressing the arrest at this time, fans are anxiously waiting to see if Usrey will break his silence or let the situation play out in court.
