Thanks to her debut country album, Cowboy Carter, Beyoncé kicked off her Cowboy Carter Tour back in April. Expected to run until the end of July, the singer performed songs like “16 Carriages” and “Texas Hold ‘Em” all over the world. Recently, she took her concert to Atlanta for a string of shows. While completely taking over the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the concert appeared to be a success. At least, until it was over. Apparently, on Beyoncé’s final night in Atlanta, 11 people ended up injured when a young fan noticed a small insect.

As Beyoncé shared her love for fans, thousands of people converged on the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) to get home. A great system for people looking to get home safely after consuming a few drinks, it turned into a scene of hysteria when a 10-year-old girl noticed a cockroach. According to the MARTA police, “a person began screaming and running, causing a stampede on the escalator that caused it to temporarily speed up and then stop suddenly.”
With people rushing to get away, not knowing exactly what happened, the escalator started to jolt forward due to stress. One of the witnesses, Jacobi Edwards, recalled the incident, explaining, “It just created a whole entire slide full of people. It just started tumbling — people just tumbling on each other. It was crazy, it was chaotic.”

Seven People Taken To Hospital Following Beyoncé Concert
Releasing a statement on the incident, the Sr. Director of Communications for MARTA, Stephany Fisher, said, “One person suffered a broken ankle, seven people were transported to the hospital with cuts and scrapes, and one person declined transport. Two people requested medical assistance after reaching their destinations.”
While the exact cause was still under investigation, the manufacturer behind the escalator, Schindler, expressed their concern around the mishap. “We extend our sympathies to the passengers who were injured. We take the safety of the riding public seriously and are committed to working closely with MARTA, Vine City Station personnel, and local authorities to fully investigate and determine the cause of the incident. At this time, we have no verified information as to the cause and it would be inappropriate to speculate.”
Although not the best way to end a night full of Beyoncé and Cowboy Carter, for fans not injured, they praised the concert after the singer shared a collage of pictures on Instagram. “Thank you so much for making my first time seeing you SO FREAKING MEMORABLE!!!!” Another person added, “Thank you, Bey! I got home at 1:45 AM. It was worth it.”
