Brent Hinds Confirms That He Was Kicked Out of Mastodon: “I’ve Never Met Three People That Were So Full of Themselves”

Brent Hinds, one of the most recognizable members of the progressive metal outfit Mastodon, has taken to social media to call out his former bandmates.  Earlier this year, it was announced that the guitarist and singer had left the band after nearly 25 years as a member. In recent months, it appears as though Hinds’ departure was anything but amicable.

Recently, in the comment section of an Instagram reel that shows footage of Mastodon performing “Crack The Skye” in 2012, Hinds left a few comments. One of them was on the more playful side, with the musician claiming “not saying I can sing tho” with a laughing emoji.

However, further down, Hinds’ comments get a little bit more direct and angry. He claimed that he did not opt to part ways mutually with Mastodon, as was previously reported, but was kicked out of the group. He slings more than a few insults at his former bandmates, namely Brann Dailor and Troy Sanders.

Brent Hinds’ Departure From Mastodon Has Been a Pretty Controversial Affair

“My Guitar sounds great, but Troy [Sanders] and Prawn [Brann Dailor] sound absolutely horrible,” Hinds’ comment reads. “They are way out of key. Embarrassing and they kicked me out of the band for embarrassing them for being who I am. But what about who they are? They are two people that can’t sing together live or anywhere else in the world. Everything they try to sing in the studio is manipulated by autotune because they’re incapable of singing in key.”

Hinds continues to sling insults, such as “f*ck these guys” and “they are the biggest fans of [themselves].”

“I’ve never seen anyone in my life look in the mirror more than Troy Sanders,” Hinds concluded. “He thinks he’s God’s gift to anything. I’ve never met three people that were so full of themselves. It’s disgusting.”

Brent Hinds’ recent harsh words for his former bandmates wouldn’t be the first time he’s had something negative to say about them. Following the announcement that Hinds would be leaving Mastodon, he took to the comments of an Instagram post in June to call the remaining members of Mastodon “horrible humans.”

The remaining members of Mastodon have not publicly replied to any of Hinds’ comments. Hinds has since been replaced by guitarist Nick Johnston, and Hinds has moved on to performing with other bands.
