Carly Pearce went viral last month when she told a heckler to “get the f— out of my show.” Many commended the “truck on fire” singer for standing up for herself and refusing to accept disrespect. However, as with any public situation involving a celebrity, Pearce also had her detractors. Some people didn’t agree with the language she used—including her own mother.

Carly Pearce Says Her Mom Agrees With Her Critics
Even at 34 years old (and with four ACM Awards in her trophy case) Carly Pearce isn’t exempt from her mom’s rules. The country star’s mom, Jackie Slusser, also reprimanded her language choice after she had a man removed from her show at WE Fest in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.
“Of course, people were like, ‘You could have used a different word’ or ‘You could have had a little bit more reserve.’ And I mean, my mom agreed,” Pearce told Fox News Digital in a recent interview.
“She was like, ‘You didn’t have to say that word,’” the “I Hope You’re Happy” singer continued. “And I was like, ‘I understand.’”

The GRAMMY winner explained why she felt it was important to publicly defend herself. “But at the end of the day, I want people to stand up for themselves,” she said. “And you shouldn’t bully people, whether it’s on social media, at a show… I think people should just be kinder.”
The “I Hope You’re Happy” Hitmaker also had some advice for her heckler. “And that guy did not need to . . . go get a beer if you don’t want to hear me sing,” she said. “Just, I don’t care. I don’t want you here anyways.”
What Happened?
Carly Pearce was opening for Parker McCollum during an Aug. 2 show at WE Fest in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. According to video footage, a man in the audience shouted, “No one cares,” when Pearce said she wanted to say something about herself.
The “We Don’t Fight Anymore” singer immediately fired back. “Somebody get him out of here. I don’t want him at my show,” she said. “Get out of my show… If you’re gonna be an a–hole, you’re gonna have to say it to me and get the f— out of my show.”
“I do not have time for d—s,” she continued. “See you later!”
