In the recent interview that has yet to be released with Kelleigh Bannen for Apple Music, Roan divulged how country music was an integral part of her upbringing. After all, Roan does hail from a small town in Missouri. In a short snippet of the interview, Roan transparently shared her affinity for the genre, and that is where she left her fans with their jaws on the floor.
Roan stated in the clip, “I wanted to write a country song, because I just thought it would be funny. It’s campy, and it’s fun. You know, I’m from southwest Missouri, grew up on Christian and country and then found ‘Alejandro’ by Lady Gaga and I was like: ‘I think I like this too!’”
“So I have kept country in my heart and it’s so incredibly nostalgic to drive in West Hollywood and have Jason Aldean, Alan Jackson, ‘Chattahoochee.’ I love how, ‘Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy,’ I was like, ‘How can I, I want to feel that way on stage, I wanna feel that.’ ‘cause that’s how I write.” added Roan.
Why Some Fans Think Chappell Roan’s Jason Aldean Fandom is Troublesome
The released interview clip posted on X has acquired loads of attention from Roan’s fans, thanks to the ideological differences embedded between her and Aldean. Regarding this separation, it seems from the comments that many of her fans believe her to be subverting the beliefs she upholds.
Given her shoutout to Aldean, one user wrote, “Of course this silly b—” said Jason Aldean. Two other users wrote, “In her Republican era” and “I’m sorry but shouting out Jason Aldean in 2025 is insane. lol.”
Roan stated how she liked Aldean’s music and how it was an integral part of her upbringing, as she did coin it as “nostalgic.” The comments. However, separate the art from the artist.
All things aside, “The Giver” will come out tonight at 8 p.m. EST. Chappell Roan’s interview with Apple Music will come out on Friday, March 14.
