Ella Langley is at the top of her game and climbing. Building on the viral success of last year’s Riley Green duet “You Look Like You Love Me,” the 26-year-old Alabama native left the 60th ACM Awards ceremony with more trophies than any other artist that night. Still, sometimes a woman’s worst enemy is the one between her ears. The reigning New Female Artist of the Year admitted on the red carpet that she struggled with her mental health in the week leading up to the ACMs. Fortunately, Langley had two of country music’s most powerful women to help her navigate it.

“Where’s Ashton Kutcher?”
If you watched the ACM Awards on May 8, you saw a lot of Ella Langley. In addition to performing her latest single, “Weren’t For The Wind,” the five-time winner also joined Miranda Lambert for a scorching duet of the latter’s 2005 breakout hit “Kerosene.”
While she appeared perfectly composed onstage, Langley was having a tough time processing the night. “I keep saying, ‘Where’s Ashton Kutcher?’ because I feel like I might finally meet him,” she joked on the red carpet, referring to the actor’s MTV hidden-camera show Punk’d.
In all seriousness, Langley got candid about “one of the toughest weeks I’ve ever had, career-wise.”
“I think it’s a lot of imposter syndrome, and when you want something so bad—I’m kind of a pessimist in my life. I protect my heart that way,” she said.
Describing her thought process, Langley added, “It’s probably not going to work out. It might, maybe, but who knows?”
These Artists Helped Ella Langley See Her Worth
Ella Langley’s testimony proves that no one is immune from imposter syndrome, not even chart-topping, five-time ACM Award winners. Fortunately, the Hungover singer has Miranda Lambert and Lainey Wilson forever in her corner.
“Yesterday Miranda and Lainey were talking to me about it. They were like, ‘You deserve to be here,” Langley told Entertainment Tonight. “And just them doing that and seeing all the women that are a part of this show and what it means to country music… I really think that women are, we’re here to play ball.”
