Eric Church and Luke Combs to Be Honored by CRS for Their Hurricane Relief Benefit Concert

Last year, Hurricane Helene ripped through the Southeast, leaving devastation in its wake. The storm crushed parts of Georgia, Eastern Tennessee, Western North Carolina, and Northern South Carolina. As a result, people from across the nation including some of the biggest stars in country music reached out to lend a helping hand. Eric Church and Luke Combs helped to organize a massive benefit concert that raised $24 million for hurricane relief.

The Concert for Carolina featured four artists with deep connections to North Carolina—Combs, Church, James Taylor, and Billy Strings. While a concert of this magnitude would usually take more than a year to organize, the benefit came together in less than a month and a record-breaking 82,000 fans into the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. Combs and Church will receive the CRS Artist Humanitarian Award at this year’s Country Radio Seminar for their efforts.

Beverlee Brannigan, CRB Awards Committee Chair spoke about the award in a statement. “Eric Church and Luke Combs’ love for their home state has been nothing short of inspiring. Their dedication to helping North Carolina recover after Hurricane Helene and their ongoing efforts show just how much they care,” Brannigan shared. “This award is a heartfelt recognition of their commitment, hard work, and genuine compassion for the people of North Carolina. Eric and Luke, we’re proud to honor you,” she added.

Church, through his nonprofit foundation Chief Cares, plans to build 100 homes for hurricane survivors. The rebuilding efforts will begin in Avery County and will provide shelter to families who lost everything in the devastating storm. Additionally, Church hopes to create jobs, rebuild schools, and support local businesses. This is in addition to all publishing royalties from his song “Darkest Hour” going directly to the state of North Carolina.

Combs and his team are working with North Carolina-based relief efforts to ensure that money goes to those who need it most. Those funds support organizations like Samaritan’s Purse, Manna Food Bank, and Second Harvest Food Band of Northwest North Carolina.
