While country music played home to greats like Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, George Strait, Loretta Lynn, and even Dolly Parton, many might not know that Canadian singer Dick Damron also produced a promising career in the genre. Having a love for country music, Damron did more than just sing the genre, he completely explored country music and its subgenres like honky-tonk, gospel, outlaw, and rockabilly. Having released over 20 albums and landing a spot in the International Country Music Hall of Fame, Damron sadly passed away at 91 years old.

Sharing his love for country for over six decades, Damron’s family broke the sad news that the voice behind “Countryfied” passed away. “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Canadian country music legend Dick Damron, who left this world with the same quiet grace and spirit that defined his life and career.”
Thankfully, Damron got the chance to watch his legacy form around him thanks to producing hits like “On the Road”, “Rise ‘n’ Shine”, and “Susan Flowers.” Thanks to his style and talents, he also collaborated with stars who included Waylon Jennings, Ronnie Hawkins, Jerry Reed, and Buddy Emmons.
Damron’s talents went far beyond the stage as he was also an accomplished songwriter who wrote with Gary Buck, Charley Pride, Terry Carisse, Orval Prophet, and several others.

Once holding a career as a rodeo rider and oil-well worker, Damron drastically changed his life to one that had him standing under the spotlight. But no matter the amount of fame he gained, the country singer never forgot where he came from and let his past help shape the lyrics that would define his future and legacy.
