Fans Declare Jessie Murph Country Music After Cover of Miranda Lambert’s “Tin Man”

Thanks to the rise of social media platforms like TikTok, Jessie Murph found her audience while uploading numerous covers. Eventually catching the eye of the music industry, she went on to release songs like “Always Been You” and “Pray.” She even collaborated with Jelly Roll on the song “Wild Ones.” That was just the start, as her second studio album, Sex Hysteria, hit shelves just last month. While exploring several genres of music, fans recently declared Murph to be country music after she performed Miranda Lambert’s “Tin Man.”

Going through the process of preparing for a performance, Murph decided to cover “Tin Man” during her soundcheck. Only wanting to get the levels of the sound right, the singer had no idea that her simple performance would be anything but simple. Sitting down with her bedazzled mic in her hand, it seemed that Murph used her phone for a little help. But looking at the video below, she didn’t need it at all.

Already bringing in over 28,000 likes, fans filled the comment section with praise. Loving how Murph put her own spin on the song surrounding heartbreak and loss, comments included, “If she were to sing real country, she would have so much potential.” Another person added, “I wish all of her songs were like this, leave the rapping to someone else, that voice is too damn good.”

Jessie Murph Discusses Her ACM Awards Nomination

Although fans wanted to see Murph embrace the world of country music, the singer explained how she didn’t want to be tied to a certain genre. “I love mixing genres and I think that I’ll always do it… I don’t like the thought of boxing myself in to express myself.”

Besides what fans had to say about Murph’s career in music, the ACM Awards even believed the singer fit into country when they nominated her for New Female Artist of the Year. Although it ultimately went to Ella Langley, Murph was just shocked she was nominated, “That was such a big surprise. I wouldn’t look at me and be like, ‘That’s a country artist.’ I don’t know that I deserved to be in that category.”

While thankful for the nomination, Murph insisted, “I feel like there’s other country artists that maybe deserved to have that spot.”
