While welcoming Wilson Jr. to his show Bertcast, Kreischer wanted to showcase the amazing voice of the singer. Although willing to perform his hit “I’m a Song”, Wilson Jr. couldn’t get through the performance as Kreischer started to tear up. Having to stop the song, Kreischer and his wife shared a laugh over the comedian’s emotions surrounding the lyrics.
Having performed the song a few times in the past, Wilson Jr. gained high praise from fans both new and old. “Every now and then you come across someone you never knew existed and are completely blown away by them.” One fan insisted, “Been in the music business 40 years. Played live TV, radio, festivals and many many shows as a guitarist in a band. For me; this guy has been the best thing I’ve ever heard to date.”
Stephen Wilson Jr. Found The True Meaning Of Music Thanks To Tim McGraw
Outside of making Kreischer cry, Wilson Jr. explained his love for country music and how it started thanks to a bus driver. He told Music Radar, “I used to have a 90-minute bus journey to and from school every day. We lived out in the country and we were the first on and last off that bus every day. The driver only played country music, so that was three hours a day, five days a week, listening to country music. I called it emersion.”
Even Wilson Jr.‘s grandparents helped instill a passion for country as they often played George Jones and Johnny Cash. But for Wilson Jr., it was Tim McGraw that revealed the try meaning of music. “I heard a song by Tim McGraw called Don’t Take The Girl and it made a mess of me real quick. It was in that moment that I realised music is not just a soundtrack. It’s not just beats and sounds and words that rhyme, it’s this spirit that lives within the songs.”
