Last week, country superstar Jason Aldean answered the call from a 13-year-old boy battling brain and spinal cancer. The Texas teen, Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel, wanted Aldean’s help in organizing a country music concert to raise funds for child cancer patients. Now it appears that concert roster has grown by one star, with Jelly Roll enthusiastically expressing his support.

Jelly Roll Wants to Join Forces With Jason Aldean and Darius Rucker
Jelly Roll’s comment sparked a wave of support from fans happy to see the Grammy nominee so eager to help sick children. “When Jelly Roll enters the chat… epic… ” one fan wrote.
Another added, “Jelly Roll stay you forever please.”
Diagnosed at age 6, DJ Daniel called on the “Big Green Tractor” singer in a video posted to social media. “Hey, does anybody know Jason Aldean? Because we’re trying to do a country show to raise money for kids with cancer,” the 13-year-old said.
Getting wind of DJ’s request, Darius Rucker filmed a video of his own. “Hey DJ, what’s up? It’s Darius Rucker,” says the “Wagon Wheel” star. “Guess what? I heard you. I know Jason Aldean.”
Rucker gestures as Aldean enters the frame. “Hey, what’s up, DJ? Jason Aldean here,” said the “Try That in a Small Town” hitmaker. “Got your message and want to get you out to a show. Let’s talk more about doing a show or doing something to help the kids like you were talking about. We’ll be in touch, my man.”
He Was Given Just Months To Live
So who is DJ Daniel, the Pearland, Texas teen who captured the attention of Jason Aldean, Darius Rucker, and Jelly Roll?
Diagnosed with brain and spinal cancer in 2018, doctors gave DJ just five months to live, People reports. Seven years and more than 13 brain surgeries later, he is still here.
DJ, who aspires to work in law enforcement, gained national attention when the U.S. Secret Service swore him in as an honorary member in March.
Last week, DJ’s father, Theodis, said his son has three new tumors.
“Just winging it day by day. He does have three new tumors. It’s rough,” Theodis Daniel said. “There isn’t a class that can teach you how to deal with it. You’re hearing that your child has a nasty disease.”
