How Taylor Swift Modeled Her Career After The Rolling Stones: “They Always Want To Come Back”

At the moment, Taylor Swift is the most popular musician on the planet. That being said, people have been comparing her to The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Beyoncé, Madonna, and other international mega-stars. However, one comparison Swift has not inspired is a comparison between her and The Rolling Stones. Frankly, at least on the surface, The Stones and Swift have more dissimilarities than similarities. Still, Swift has publicly stated that The Rolling Stones are a “huge influence” on her career.

Regarding music, Taylor Swift and The Rolling Stones seemingly have nothing in common. Concerning their personas, they also have little to nothing in common. Now, when it comes to their on-stage energy and far-reaching appeal, they both have a lot in common.

Both parties have certainly garnered their fan bases in their own unique ways, but they both hold similar types of fan bases, as they each have some of the most steadfast fan bases in all of pop culture. Which is why Swift cites them as such a major influence, because she, too, wanted to attract fans as staunch and loyal as The Stones’ fans.

Taylor Swift Admires How The Rolling Stones Keep Fans Coming Back

After Taylor Swift performed with The Rolling Stones in 2013 on their 50 And Counting Tour in Chicago, she appeared on their YouTube channel to reveal her affinity for the group. Shell-shocked, she shared, “I just got offstage and played with The Rolling Stones. Y’know, that’s not something I thought was going to happen in my life.”

More specific to the matter at hand, Swift stated, “That’s one of the only bands where you see these fans who have been coming to shows for decades, and they always want to come back. The way that you see them give everything they have for every single performance, that’s what makes fans loyal to them, and that’s been a huge influence on my entire outlook on my career.”

Taylor Swift has certainly acquired a fan base synonymous with The Rolling Stones’ own fan base. As a matter of fact, some may even argue that Swifties are more dedicated than Rolling Stones fans. However, that is a can of worms we will loosen, but not open. Swifties and Stones followers are not a bunch to be trifled with, after all. Regardless, The Rolling Stones have rubbed off on everyone in the music industry. Even the folks who hold no apparent comparisons to them, such as Taylor Swift.
