While the summer featured several country music festivals, it also featured a great deal of Kevin James. That’s right – the actor known for roles in Hitch, I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry, and Paul Blart: Mall Cop, did more than attend a few country music concerts. Although not uncommon for celebrities to enjoy their favorite singers, James went far beyond just being a fan as she shared the stage with both Jelly Roll and Thomas Rhett. With country music fans wondering why James infiltrated the genre, it seemed the actor was working on a new role that would feature none other than Jelly Roll.

With James deciding to venture into country music for an upcoming role, Jelly Roll appeared to do the same. Not only did Jelly Roll act in a Super Bowl commercial, but he recently took over hosting duties on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. And, it should come as no surprise that James was there as a special guest.
During their conversation, Jelly Roll revealed, “You have been prepping for a film I know you’re excited about.” He continued, “You are coming into the country music space and you’re going to shoot a country music film.”

Kevin James Needed Help From Jelly Roll On How To Be A Country Singer
Not adding his name to the list of actors, James was sure to set the record straight. “Yeah. It’s going to be a crazy one. And you know how crazy it is because my man is doing it with me. You’re going to be my partner in crime.”
Excited about the upcoming project, Jelly Roll might have more to do with the film than just acting. Apparently, James needed a little help when it came to embracing the persona of a country music singer. “We have to get me to be able to look like I know what I’m doing, right?”
Although announcing the film, both James and Jelly Roll made sure not to give away too many details. While fans don’t even know the name of the film or a release date, they were excited to see both stars working together.
Going beyond taking the stage with Jelly Roll and Rhett, most remember James showcased his acting abilities alongside HARDY and Nate Smith for the music video, “Nobody Likes Your Girlfriend.”
