Keith Urban Discusses Decision To Make Major Lineup Changes Ahead of 2025 Tour

When the new year started, countless people announced their New Year’s resolutions. For many, they wanted nothing more than to lose weight, start a new hobby, or move their life in a different direction. But for Keith Urban, he took an entirely different approach when he decided to part ways with three long-time members of his band. Among those who left the stage for the last time were drummer Terence F. Clark, keyboardist Nathan Barlowe, and Jerry Flowers. Confusing fans about the sudden lineup change, Urban offered his reasoning behind the shift.

Although singers have made lineup changes in the past, Urban’s decision to part ways with Flowers was a big deal. The guitarist has performed with Urban for more than 25 years. Becoming a part of the singer’s legacy, Urban explained, “It feels really good. I’ve always followed the inner voice that says it’s time to make a change in any area of my life and sort of just take the leap.”

While admitting he had no idea where his decision would take him, good or bad, Urban looked forward to a new chapter in his career. “I don’t always know what I’m going to do next. And there’s something exhilarating about living that way and about performing that way. So again, we’ve been really lucky with this band.” he added, “I’m really looking forward to getting out with the new band, new songs, new production, new everything.”

Jerry Flowers Thanks Keith Urban For Lasting Memories

Showing that there was no animosity behind the decision, Flowers shared a touching tribute to his time with Urban on Instagram. Posting a collage of pictures, the musician wrote, “It’s with a heavy but very full heart that after 25 years on stage with Keith Urban, Keith has decided to make a lineup change and I will no longer be in the band. I have and always will have the utmost respect and love for Keith and I treasure the amazing years we had together.”

Outside of thanking Urban for the opportunity and lasting memories, Flowers also turned his attention to the fans. “I want to thank all the fans that have showed me so much love for so many years and I hope I was a small part of bringing you joy and happiness thru our shows. Now I’m going to open myself up to new opportunities and I’m excited to see what’s next for me. Thank you!!!”

As for the rest of 2025, Urban will kick off his High and Alive World Tour on May 22nd in Orange Beach, Alabama. The tour will last several months, taking the singer internationally to cities like Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane.
