Having been married to actress Nicole Kidman for nearly 20 years, Keith Urban knows a thing or two about love. And recently, the “Blue Ain’t Your Color” crooner got to witness it begin in his home country of Australia.

Fans React to Surprise Proposal
Last month, Keith Urban headed Down Under for this year’s Tamworth Country Music Festival. There, he took home the Top Selling Australian Country Album of the Year for his 12th studio record, High.
During his time there, Urban stopped by the Big Golden Guitar, a local tourist attraction. That’s where the best-selling country artist got a special surprise when a fan dropped to one knee and proposed to his girlfriend.
A video shared by the venue’s TikTok account shows Urban, 57, throwing his arms into the air in triumph as the bride-to-be gives her answer: “Yes.” Watch below for his reaction.
“That’s so awesome,” the “Female” singer says, giving the woman a congratulatory hug.
“Imagine your first hug after getting engaged is from Keith Urban!” one TikTok user wrote. “That’s a story for the grandkids!”
Jokingly, another fan added, “Imagine… she wants to say no but says yes because Keith Urban is there.”
Whatever her reasons for saying yes, we wish them both a lifetime of happiness—and so does Urban.
The Song Keith Urban’s Ex Hated
Keith Urban notched his second No. 1 hit in 2002 with “Somebody Like You,” off his third studio album Golden Road. Seven years later, Billboard named the song as the top country tune of the 2000s.
However, it seems not everyone was impressed. During a Jan. 20 appearance on the Q With Tom Power podcast, Urban admitted he fell victim to some wishful thinking during the songwriting process.
“I wasn’t in a good way, and I thought at the time, ‘My girlfriend seems to really love me. I wish I could love myself the way she seems to,’” he said. “So the song was actually, ‘I want to love somebody like you do, I want to love me like you do.’”
After recording the demo, Urban played “Somebody Like You” for his then-girlfriend. He did not anticpate her reaction.
“She hears it as a love song and it finished and she just looks at me, she goes, ‘You’re a f—ing hypocrite,’ and then walked out of the room,” he said. “She’s like, ‘You don’t want to love anyone, you’re just an a–hole.’ And she wasn’t wrong. It wasn’t the guy I was, it was the guy I wished I could be.”
