“I leave for the U.S. Army next month,” Wilson read to the crowd, before telling Maynard, “Come on. We’re going to get our picture, girlfriend.”
When the pair couldn’t a good photo with Wilson on the stage and Maynard standing below, security boosted the fan up, putting her onstage with the singer.
“This is Ciarra. Y’all give it up for Ciarra. So you are leaving next month for the Army?” Wilson questioned, as USA chants broke out in the crowd. “That’s right, y’all.”
“Thank you so much for your service,” Wilson said. “Because of people like you, I get to do what I do, and that just means the world to me.”
The ladies finally got their photo and shared a hug, before Maynard hopped off the stage.
In a post to TikTok, Maynard called the experience the “most amazing night of my life.”
Wilson also posted about her time a festival, sharing a series of photos from the experience on Instagram.
“Got a little wild in Wildwood,” she captioned her post. “Thank you, @barefootcountrymusicfest for having me.”
Wilson has often made it a point to give back to military members and their families.
Through her Heart Like a Truck Fund, Wilson has raised money for organizations including War Horses for Veterans, Dark Horse Elite, and Operation Stand Down Tennessee, all organizations that support veterans.
Lainey Wilson’s Music and Tour
As for her music career, Wilson is set to release the deluxe edition of her album, Whirlwind, on Aug. 22. She released her latest song, “Somewhere Over Laredo,” in May.
“When I’m flying between shows I catch myself looking out the window, talking to God, dreaming, or even reminiscing,” she wrote of the song on Instagram. “‘Somewhere Over Laredo’ tells a story that speaks to that. I’ve always been inspired by putting myself into other peoples’ shoes and telling stories from others’ perspective, but I’ve found a new creative avenue with this one putting myself back into a pair of shoes that I wore years ago.”
In addition to new music, Wilson is currently on the road with her Whirlwind World Tour. The shows kicked off in Europe back in March, and are scheduled to conclude in Orlando, Florida, in November.
