Lindsey Buckingham Reunites With Mick Fleetwood for the First Time Since Fleetwood Mac Firing

Although producing memorable performances and iconic songs, Fleetwood Mac went through more than a few turbulent years. Throughout the decades, the group produced hits like “Dreams” and “Go Your Own Way.” First formed by Peter Green in the 1960s, the band went on to sell over 120 million albums alongside Mick Fleetwood and John McVie. Eventually adding new members to the lineup, like Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks, Fleetwood Mac landed in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. While tensions hit a breaking point, it seemed that Fleetwood and Buckingham recently reunited over a new solo album.

Back in 2018, Buckingham found himself without a job when Fleetwood Mac fired him. Although rumors circulated about what caused the band to part ways with Buckingham, it seemed to focus around the tour at the time and the direction the band wanted to take. Not liking the direction, Buckingham refused to sign off on the tour, supposedly leading the band to make the difficult decision.

Lindsey Buckingham Working With Mick Fleetwood Once Again

While happening years ago, it appeared that both Buckingham and Fleetwood left the past behind when the two made their way into the recording studio. Recalling how the reunion happened, producer Carl Falk, who worked with Fleetwood on his solo album, admitted, “Slightly unreal moment to sit with Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood to play Lindsey the album we have been working on. And to see his genuine happiness for Mick to finally do his own album and offering to play guitar and to sing on it. Can’t wait to finish this one.”

Happy for each other, not every member of Fleetwood Mac shared the same love for Buckingham. Nicks remained steadfast in her decision to distance herself from Buckingham. Speaking with Rolling Stone, she declared, “I dealt with Lindsey for as long as I could. You could not say that I did not give him more than 300 million chances.”

As for Fleetwood, he hoped that time would heal the wounds. “I always have a fantasy that she and Lindsay would pal up a bit more and just say everything’s OK for them both.”
