Consisting of four powerful singers, Little Big Town first stepped on stage during the late 1990s. Since then, the band released hit songs like “Pontoon”, “Tornado”, and “Day Drinking.” Looking at their discography, the band released their first Christmas album last year with The Christmas Record. And throughout 2024, Little Big Town also helmed the Friends of Mine tour. Continuing to carve their own path in the music industry, singer Kimberly Schlapman recently shared a secret she was holding on to for nearly 20 years.

Appearing on Today with Jenna & Friends, Schlapman felt right at home in front of the cameras. Even when the singer was asked if she ever had any wild nights on vacation, Schlapman shared a laugh as she dropped a massive bombshell about her personal life. “When we talked about this earlier, I started shaking, my hands started shaking, I got really nervous. I was like, ‘I do have a story,’ but, like, four people on the whole earth know about it. Not my parents, not my mama and daddy.”
Although Schlapman was ready to reveal her secret, she made sure to call home to let her parents know. Not wanting them to find out while watching the television, she said, “I was like, ‘Mama, is Daddy there, can he hear me? I have to tell you something.’ And I told her and she was like, ‘What?!’ And then finally I got more nervous and nervous and then she started giggling.”
Kimberly Schlapman Feels Great After Letting Go Of Secret
As for the secret, it seemed that Schlapman ended up getting married before she walked down the aisle. Sound confusing? Thankfully, she set the record straight, explaining, “I was like, ‘Okay.’ So Schlap and I got married. My husband, I call him Schlap. Our last name is Schlapman. My late husband’s name was Steve. This one’s name is Steve. I can’t call both of my beautiful men Steve, so this is Schlap. So Schlap and I got married November 2006, but six months earlier we eloped to Vegas.”
Again, with only a handful of people knowing Schlapman’s secret, she felt like a weight was lifted as she insisted it was “nice to be free of that.”
