Metal Guitarist “Getting Better Every Day” After Removal of Benign Brain Tumor

Looks like things are looking up for guitarist Wayne Lozinak of the metalcore group Hatebreed. In a recent Instagram post, the musician followed up with his fans about his recent health scare, which involved being diagnosed with a benign brain tumor. Lozinak said that he underwent surgery last week to have the brain tumor removed, and he has been recovering well, all things considered.

“Last week was rough!” Lozinak said in the caption of the post, which featured a photo of the musician with a large scar covering a good portion of his hairline. “But I’m getting better every day. Gonna be a while before I get fully recovered, but it’s going good!”

Wayne Lozinak’s Recent Brain Tumor Diagnosis Was Certainly Scary, but He’s on the Mend

The specific surgery Wayne Lozinak underwent is known as a carniotomy. The procedure is intensive and involves cutting into the actual skull to access the brain. Fortunately, it looks like the scary surgery was a success, as Lozinak has been recovering well since the procedure took place on August 4.

According to reports, Lozinak’s tumor was discovered after he began exhibiting stroke-like symptoms after a performance at Download Festival back in June. After visiting doctors, a CT scan showed that a mass, known as a benign meningioma, had formed on his brain. In a statement from the band at the time, they noted that the mass had “likely been present for years.”

The diagnosis came in the middle of Hatebreed’s still-ongoing tour. Bassist Matt Bachand stepped in for Lozinak on guitar, and Carl Schwartz has taken on bass duties on the tour.

“I want to thank you all for all the messages,” Wayne Lozinak continued in his Instagram post. “I didn’t have my phone in the hospital, so that’s why I didn’t respond. Just started to look over them today. I really appreciate it! Made me feel good!”

Lozinak went on to say that his surgical team was “great” and thanked several people in his message.

“Onward and upward!” said Lozinak.

Fans have been dishing out plenty of love and well-wishes to the guitarist in the comments of the post.

“Have the fastest recovery, my friend,” said one fan.

“I think you have an album cover photo right there!” said another. “Get well my friend.”

We wish Wayne Lozinak nothing but the best as he recovers.
