Most celebrities will go to extraordinary lengths to bury their scandals. Not wanting fans to see them in a negative light, most tend to steer clear of any conversation surrounding their drama or shortcomings. But when it came to Morgan Wallen, he embraced his faults as they helped inspire him on his new album I’m The Problem. Released back in May, Wallen recently kicked off his I’m The Problem Tour in Texas. And wanting to move away from the past, he decided to literally set the stage on fire.

Since breaking into country music back in 2014, Wallen has had more than a few problems with the law. Looking back to 2016, he was arrested for driving under the influence. In 2020, he was yet again arrested for public intoxication. And back in 2024, he was arrested for throwing a chair from the rooftop of a bar. While embracing the partying lifestyle, Wallen decided to use those negative times in his career for I’m The Problem. Coming packed with over 30 songs, Wallen watched as the album dominated the Billboard 200 Album Chart.
When taking the stage at the NRG Stadium in Texas, fans roared in excitement as Wallen appeared to grab a jerrycan full of gas and poured it all over the stage. At the same time, several headlines flashed across the screen, pointing to his past scandals. Tossing the can to the side, the country singer lit a match and threw it on the ground before a flame shot into the air.
Morgan Wallen Discusses Using His Past To Shape ‘I’m The Problem’
Now, before fans start to worry about Wallen burning down a stadium with his antics, the entire display was just for show. Not really pouring gas on the stage, the flame was nothing more than perfectly timed pyrotechnics. But at the same time, the move was a symbolic act of Wallen wanting to burn his past to help build his future.
Marking the first show of his I’m The Problem tour, Wallen knew how to set a standard. As for his new hit album, the singer admitted he used the lyrics to take responsibility for his past. “Well, I think there was a little bit of playing into just everything I’ve been through in my life… not like I’m the victim or anything, I’ve caused a lot of it, you know? And I think that’s my way of accepting that responsibility and saying, ‘Hey, maybe I am the problem sometimes.’”
Just the start of his tour, Wallen will travel throughout the United States and Canada until the middle of September alongside Ella Langley, Miranda Lambert, Anne Wilson, Gavin Adcock, Corey Kent, and Brooks & Dunn.
