For Neal Schon, his career in the music industry went far beyond helping create the iconic rock band Journey. He also performed in the bands Santana, Bad English, and even Hardline. And if that wasn’t enough, the musician explored a solo career with his latest album, Journey Through Time, hitting shelves in 2023. But always thrilled over what he created with Journey, it appeared that Schon might be looking to go back to that time with a new group called Journey Beyond.

While creating an offshoot band from Journey caught the eye of fans, Schon took the stage with another Journey tribute band just a few years ago. Back in 2018, he walked on stage with the group Journey Through Time. The band included former Journey members like Gregg Rolie, Marco Mendoza, and Deen Castronovo. But now, thanks to a filing from the United States Patent and Trademark Office, it seemed that Schon could be preparing to take a journey back in time.

Neal Schon Ready To Guide Journey “Into The Future”
Although the trademark remained in the approval process, Schon’s Journey Beyond looked to “cover the categories of musical sound recordings; downloadable musical sound recordings; series of musical sound recordings; compact discs featuring music; downloadable music files; downloadable MP3 files and MP3 recordings featuring music; musical video recordings; and pre-recorded CDs, video tapes, laser disks and DVDs featuring music.”
Showing just how long the process could take, Schon initially filed the request back in April. But speculation around the idea of a new band caught the attention of fans when the musician posted a picture of a Journey Beyond logo on Twitter. He captioned the post, “Into the future.”
With the idea gaining support from fans, others recalled a tribute band of the same name that was created back in 2020 by Anthrax’s Joey Belladonna. Having a love for the group, Belladonna even performed a song from Journey when auditioning for Anthrax.
Still, with only an image and a pending trademark, fans will have to wait to see exactly what Schon had planned for Journey Beyond.
