After years of swearing it would never happen, brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher reunited onstage as Oasis this July for the first time in 16 years. On Saturday, Aug. 2, longtime fans flocked to London for the latest in a string of Wembley Stadium shows. Sadly, the night ended in tragedy for one concertgoer.

London’s Metropolitan Police are investigating the death of a man in his 40s who apparently fell from the upper tier of Wembley Stadium during Oasis’ Aug. 2 show.
According to a spokesperson, on-duty officers responded to reports of injuries at 10:19 p.m. They found a man “with injuries consistent with a fall.” Authorities “sadly pronounced” him dead at the scene, the spokesperson said.
Horrible tragedy. Thoughts with the victim's family and everyone who witnessed it. @christaylorwin's right—safety at big venues needs to be a top priority.

Now, police are asking Wembley Stadium attendees to come forward with any information that may help the case. “The stadium was busy, and we believe it is likely a number of people witnessed the incident, or may knowingly or unknowingly have caught it on mobile phone video footage,” said the spokesperson.

Oasis Members “Shocked and Saddened” By Wembley Stadium Tragedy
In a statement, the Britpop legends extended “sincere condolences” to family and friends of the man who plunged to his death at their Wembley Stadium show.
“We are shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic death of a fan at the show last night,” the statement read.
A Wembley Stadium spokesperson told the Guardian that the incident would not impact Oasis’ Sunday concert.
Online, condolences poured in from fans. “That’s heartbreaking news. Hope the poor soul’s family finds some peace—can’t imagine what they’re going through,” one X/Twitter user wrote.
Additionally, others called for Wembley Stadium to re-evaluate the venue’s safety measures.
My brother in law went to their Wembley gig Friday before last and called it out. He mentioned that he saw lots of fans who had been drinking standing on the ledges and was worried they would fall. How the organisers didn’t see this happen I don’t know- RIP

“This is heartbreaking,” added another X/Twitter user. “The rows and stairs up in the nosebleeds at Wembley are far too slim and steep – if someone were to slip or misstep it’s no surprise they could fall to their death.”
