Today was a big day for the country pop genre back in 2014. On this day, country pop star Hunter Hayes officially broke the record for most concerts performed in alternating cities in just one day. He played a whopping 10 sets in just 24 hours.

Specifically, Hayes made it to the Guinness World Records for playing the most concerts in multiple cities in just a single 24-hour period. And he did it all for charity, too.
Hayes’ trek began on May 9, 2014 with a killer performance on Good Morning America in New York City. After that, Hayes played a whopping nine additional shows in nine cities. The trek was aptly titled the “24 Hour Road Race To End Child Hunger.” It was launched in partnership with packaged goods company ConAgra Foods and Feeding America under the blanket name Child Hunger Ends Here.
“I cannot believe how much fun this whole day has been and that it’s only been a day!” Hayes said in a statement, following his impressive concert-packed trek. “10 shows in 24 hours with the best fans in the world and a great cause with Child Hunger Ends Here. […] I’m so proud to get to work with them and all the sponsors. Thank you to all the fans for not only making history with us but also making this whole thing absolutely awesome!”
Country Pop Star Hunter Hayes’ Focus Was on Ending Child Hunger, Not Breaking the Record for Most Concerts in a 24-Hour Period
Hayes broke the record previously held by rock band The Flaming Lips. That outfit played a hefty eight shows in 24 hours back in 2012.
According to Hayes, the partnership with Child Hunger Ends Here had begun well before the record-breaking trek in 2014 had taken place.
“It started a couple of years ago when I was approached to write a song for the ACM Lifting Lives segment,” Hayes said in 2014. “They talked to me and a buddy of mine about writing a theme song for the campaign. So, Luke Laird, Barry Dean, and I got together and wrote a song called ‘Here’s Hope’. It was quite an eye-opening experience. […] It is staggering what you learn about the hunger issue – right next door in our own backyards. The statistics are absolutely unbelievable.”
He made waves as the country star with the most concerts performed in a 24-hour period, but Hayes’ focus couldn’t be further from Guinness World Records. That’s pretty admirable.
