Sean Ono Lennon Urges Fans Not to Pit Him Against His Brother Julian Lennon

No matter how many years pass, The Beatles will always remain a pillar in the music industry. At the height of their stardom, the band appeared to take over the world as fans clamored to see the group perform. Outside of his time on stage, John Lennon also nurtured a songwriting partnership with his bandmate Paul McCartney. Considered one of the most successful writing partnerships in music history, it was only fitting that Lennon’s children, Julian Lennon and Sean Ono Lennon, would follow in his footsteps. And while competition is good, Sean recently asked fans to not pit him against his brother.

Looking back over the life of Lennon, the musician first married Cynthia Powell back in 1962. While they divorced in 1968, the songwriter welcomed his first son Julian during that time. After their divorce, Lennon would marry once again to Yoko Ono. Together, they welcomed Lennon’s second son Sean. Having performed several times together, Sean never wanted the two to compete.

Sharing a picture of the two on his Instagram Stories, Sean wrote, “Here, we do not accept comparisons and erroneous creations of fights about two people that John Lennon loved the most: his children.” At the bottom of the post, he added, “Peace and much, much love.”

Julian Declared Sean Ono Lennon His “Best Mate”

While the brothers shared different mothers, they seemed to never care as they enjoyed the company of each other. Just a few years ago, Julian insisted that Sean was his “Best mate.” Spending time together, he said, “We’re brothers and we love each other deeply on that level. We just talk daily, same as anybody would.”

Having shared numerous posts of each other, back in December, the two brothers spent some time at The Dakota, which was the famous New York City apartment building where John and Ono lived. It also marked the location where John was shot and killed.

Not focusing on the hardships of their lives in the spotlight, the brothers continued to explore their careers in the music industry while sharing a love for each other and the connection they shared with a musical icon.
