It seems as though the idea of a “reunion tour” is as popular as ever these days. So, it came as no surprise when Simon and Garfunkel announced they would once again be teaming up, live and in concert. Although only a few dates have been confirmed, the tour will kick off in Auckland, New Zealand on June 13th and then move on to Australia.
The duo, who have struggled to maintain a friendship at times, surprised the public when they played an unannounced show at New York’s Beacon Theatre this past February. That appearance marked their first performance since 2004’s “Old Friends” tour that earned an estimated $123 million. As for whether or not this could be the last hoorah-some say yes. “I’d put money on the table this will likely be the last time for us with these two legends together,” said Michael Chugg, executive chairman of Sydney-based Chugg Entertainment. “This is probably a twice in a lifetime chance, but the last time you’ll get to take it I’d say.”
Simon’s manager, Jeff Kramer has reportedly asked the group’s musicians to clear their calendars from May through June, leaving an opening for other international dates.
