While fans of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles hoped for a great Super Bowl on Sunday, others looked past the teams to the halftime show. For any person who ever watched a Super Bowl, they know the game is only part of the celebration. With each commercial break, the audience is welcomed with Hollywood style commercials. And if that wasn’t enough, the Super Bowl halftime show has always been a hot moment during the big game. As Kendrick Lamar will take the field at halftime on Sunday, the artist hinted at how long his performance could be.

For the past week, Lamar not only rehearsed for his performance but also promoted the Super Bowl. Having sat down for several interviews, he discussed the show with Apple Music. Given only 13 minutes to perform, Lamar wanted to use every last second. “Only 13 minutes. It’s kind of wild because it lets you know where you’re at, your perspective about how you think about the catalog and the music.”

Although revealing he only had 13 minutes to perform at the Super Bowl, Lamar stayed extremely silent when it came to his setlist. Still, giving fans a taste of what to expect, he insisted, “I respect the past but being in the now and being locked in to how I feel now, that’s the LA energy for me. That’s something I want to carry over to New Orleans for the world to see. This is me, Kendrick Lamar, 37 years old and I still feel like I’m elevating, still on a journey, and I want that energy to ooze out of the television and to the people that are in that building.”
