Today, April 11, The Head and The Heart released the fourth single from their new album, Aperture. The Head and The Heart’s new single, “Blue Embers,” and their new album are connected with their new label, Verve Forecast. Prior to the release of these singles, The Head and The Heart hadn’t released music since 2022 with their album, Every Shade of Blue.

Already, the band has released three singles from their new album. The three singles currently available to stream are “After The Setting Sun,” “Time With My Sins,” and “Arrow.” Aperture comes out May 9 and marks the first self-produced album since the band’s 2011 self-titled debut album.
Before Every Shade of Blue and “Blue Embers,” The Head and The Heart dominated the 2010s indie folk scene with their sentimentally sweet songs “Rivers and Roads” and “Let’s Be Still.” With the release of “Blue Embers” and the impending release of Aperture, the group hopes to spread their sound to the world of indie folk once again.
The Head and The Heart’s New Single & Upcoming Tour
Regarding their new single, band member Matt Gervais stated, “Blue Embers was written in that never-ending, always-ending space. If it weren’t for music, that space would be harder and harder to see through.” “And if you’re in there right now, know that you’re not alone, that it does open up, and that there’s beauty on the other side you can’t even imagine. Just hold on,” added Gervais.
In addition to their new single and album, The Head and The Heart also recently announced their upcoming 2025 Aperture Tour. The tour kicks off on May 30 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and concludes on October 10 in Knowville, Tennessee.
Per the group’s history and comments, “Blue Embers” and Aperture are things they are all proud of. Matter of fact, Gervais stated, “I believe we’ve made a very great record together and obviously the title is an important aspect of the final product.” So, if you are looking for something to add to your indie folk playlist, then give The Head and The Heart’s new single a listen, and keep an eye out for their upcoming album.
