The Lemonheads will release their first collection of new original songs in almost 20 years, Love Chant, on October 24. The 10-track collection finds frontman Evan Dando collaborating with a variety of guest artists.

Among those who contributed to the album are Dinosaur Jr frontman J Mascis, Juliana Hatfield, The Bevis Frond’s Nick Saloman, and Adam Green of The Moldy Peaches.
Coinciding with the album announcement, The Lemonheads have released the song “In the Margin” as an advance digital track. A companion music video also has debuted on the band’s official YouTube channel.
“I wanted to have a riffy song, so I wrote riffs all over it,” Dando said of “In the Margin.” “The body of the song was [written by Marciana Jones]. It’s like a full-on 8th-grade girl revenge song: ‘Stupidly I left the escape plans out so they could find my way.’”
“In the Margin” was preceded in May by the release of another advance track from Love Chant called “Deep End.” That song features a guitar solo by Mascis and Hatfield on backing vocals. A video for “Deep End” also premiered on The Lemonheads’ YouTube channel. “Deep End” was co-written by Tom Morgan, who has been a frequent collaborator with Dando since the 1990s.
Love Chant can be pre-ordered now. It will be released on CD, as a vinyl LP, and via digital formats. The LP will be available on standard black vinyl, as a picture disc, and in multiple colored-vinyl variants.
