She performed “Pink Pony Club” to honor L.A., perched atop a giant pink horse surrounded by rodeo clowns. Chappell gave her usual high-energy show, getting the audience to sing the chorus along with her. The crowd was electric as they shouted her lyrics back to her, and we’re all waiting to see if she grabs one of her nominations tonight.

For her first GRAMMY Awards, Chappell Roan snagged six nominations. Her 2023 album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess is nominated for Album of the Year, Best New Artist, and Best Pop Vocal Album; and her single “Good Luck, Babe!” is nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year. Pretty good for her first GRAMMYs. In fact, fans are going as far as dubbing it “one of the best grammy performances ever.”

Chappell Roan Explains Why She’s Feeling “Very Emo” Ahead of First GRAMMY Awards

Recently, Chappell Roan took to social media to share her thoughts about attending her first-ever GRAMMYs, writing that she was feeling “very emo” about the award show. However, she also expressed gratitude for all the support she’s received.

“It’s Grammy week. I am very emo,” she wrote in the caption of the Instagram post.  “My heart feels warm and fuzzy with all the support I have been given this past year. I hope you can understand that this has been incredible and scary and spiritual and confusing. I’ve been crying tears of joy and grief and feeling loved and lonely and free.”

Chappell expressed her complicated, contradictory emotions coming up this week, as well as in the past year. She’s dealt with a lot of criticism for her opinions and push-back against fans who cross her boundaries. However, she’s also received endless support from fans and her contemporaries in the music industry. Now, all her hard work has led to the GRAMMYs. While awards aren’t everything, it most likely means something to be recognized by such a prolific organization.

“Ultimately, I am grateful for every one of you who gave my music a little spin and showed your ass up to shows and festivals,” Chappell Roan continued in her post. “I love the performance we’re preparing for you all. And girl no matter what, just know when I’m up on stage, all I’m really feeling in my heart is love to the queer community especially those in places where it is unsafe to be yourself.”
