Back in September 2023, fans got a glimpse of the future of entertainment when The Las Vegas Sphere opened. Costing over $2 billion to build, the venue used the latest technology to build LED displays that climbed over 360 feet into the air. And besides towering over the audience, the screens offered crystal-clear images. Able to transport the audience to any place around the world, the venue welcomed acts like The Eagles, Dead and Company, and even U2. But recently, Kenny Chesney took the stage at the popular venue and decided to take fans back to 2004 when he welcomed Uncle Kracker to perform “When The Sun Goes Down.”

Released in the early 2000s, Chesney and Uncle Kracker watched as the hit song struck a chord with fans. Quickly climbing the charts, “When The Sun Goes Down” landed No. 1 on the US Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks. It held the top slot for five weeks. But besides looking at the charts, the song became an anthem for the summer and every person who found themselves on vacation.
With the summer just kicking off, Chesney found the perfect time to bring the song back. As fans packed the sphere to see the country singer, they were shocked when Uncle Kracker emerged to perform “When The Sun Goes Down.” And there wasn’t a single fan in the audience that didn’t sing along.
Uncle Kracker Talks Ongoing Friendship With Kenny Chesney
Jumping to the comments, fans discussed the moment with one person wondering “When did Uncle Kracker get so hot!” For another person, they admitted it was impossible to have a bad time at a Chesney concert. “You will never not have a good time at a Kenny Chesney concert whether it’s nosebleeds or front row.”
As for Uncle Kracker, he has discussed his ongoing friendship with Chesney over the years. Just last year, he explained how the two live only minutes from each other in Nashville. “He’s still the greatest cat. He loves everything except getting his picture taken.”
Recalling a memorable performance in the past, Uncle Kracker revealed how Chesney sent a jet for him. “He was getting ready to play his first stadium show in Knoxville and he invited me.” Not missing the moment, he added, “I got on that jet.”
With their friendship ongoing, fans at the sphere received a special moment they won’t soon forget.
