Watch Red Clay Strays Bring Bert Kreischer to Tears with Unreleased Song “Moments”

Last month, the worlds of standup comedy and country music collided at Zanies in Nashville when the Red Clay Strays took the stage with Bert Kreischer and a handful of other comedians. They performed a rousing rendition of “Ring of Fire.” Now, almost exactly a month later, Kreischer released an episode of his Bertcast podcast featuring the Mobile, Alabama-based band. After a long conversation about music and life, the band brought the Machine to tears with music from their forthcoming album.

In recent months, Kreischer has been on a journey of musical discovery. It started when he shared a clip of him hearing Tyler Childers and Colter Wall for the first time. Notably, he put the Childers song “Nose on the Grindstone” on repeat because it moved him so deeply. In the most recent Bertcast episode, he felt the power of music again as the Red Clay Strays performed songs from the new album for him.

Red Clay Strays Make Bert Kreischer Cry on His Podcast

Bert Kreischer posted a clip of him watching the Red Clay Strays performing “Moments” from Made by These Moments to promote the podcast. Despite his dark sunglasses, the emotion he’s feeling is written all over his face. “I promised I wouldn’t cry on podcasts anymore but this doesn’t count,” he wrote in the post.

The band took the title of the new album from a line in “Moments” which makes sense. Made by These Moments is a study of the human condition. The songs on the album create an ebb and flow that takes listeners to the depths of despair before offering a light of redemption. Lyrically, “Moments” combines the two and embodies the balance of the overall album. Take, for instance, the opening lines. I’ve had love / And I’ve had heartbreak. / I’ve walked tall and proud / And I’ve fallen on my face. / I’ve seen babies grow / And loved ones pass away.

Made by These Moments drops tomorrow (July 26).
