Enter The May/June 2012 Lyric Contest

For 27 years, the American Songwriter Amateur Lyric Contest has been spotlighting the talents of unpublished songwriters across all genres. American Songwriter magazine sponsors six contests per year, which run in conjunction with each issue published. The entry fee is $12 per lyric, which includes a complimentary trial issue of American Songwriter. The contest is open to entrants in all countries.

PRIZES: The winning lyric, along with three additional runners-up and ten honorable mentions from each contest, will be published in the issue of American Songwriter that follows the deadline of each contest.

First Place: The first place winner also receives a Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Standard Acoustic Guitar in Antique Natural Finish and a Shure SM58 Microphone.

PARTNERS: The Lyric Contest is presented by American Songwriter Magazine and sponsored by Gibson Guitars and Shure Microphones. (Note to IPad users: Apple is not a sponsor or involved in the Contest in any manner.)

EDITORIAL COVERAGE: One of the four finalists will also be chosen for American Songwriter’s one-page Q&A  “Lyric Spotlight” feature in the print issue and online.

FREE COMPLIMENTARY ISSUE: Entry fee of $12 per lyric comes with a complimentary trial issue of American Songwriter. (Due to shipping costs, complimentary issues are available to entrants in the U.S. only.)

YEARLY GRAND PRIZE: One of the bi-monthly First Place winners is selected each year for a Grand Prize trip to Nashville, Tennessee (includes 1 round-trip travel ticket). We’ll schedule a “Dream Co-Writing Session” for the winner with veteran Music Row songwriter and also coordinate a recording of the new song with a professional demo company, valued at more than $600. Past “Dream Co-Write Sessions” have been held with artists like Chris Young, Jim Lauderdale, Rodney Crowell and many more!
