3 Quick Facts on ‘American Idol’ Contestant Lola Bonfiglio, Daughter of Carnie Wilson

Many American Idol hopefuls have the luxury of arriving to their audition as complete unknowns. That wasn’t the case for Lola Bonfiglio, daughter of Carnie Wilson. In fact, the Wilson Phillips singer crashed her daughter’s audition, bringing along her younger sister (and bandmate) Wendy, as well as husband Rob Bonfiglio. While you wait for Lola’s audition to air during tonight’s (March 23) episode, here are three things you should know about the 19-year-old Californian.

1. ‘American Idol’ Isn’t Lola Bonfiglio’s First Time on a National Stage

Years before her American Idol bid, Lola Bonfiglio joined her family on The Kelly Clarkson Show. Along with Clarkson and other members of her family, including grandfather Brian of The Beach Boys, she performed “God Only Knows.” The June 2021 appearance marked the first time that three generations of the Wilson musical dynasty had shared the same stage.

Taking to social media to gush about the opportunity, Lola wrote, “thank you to all who made it possible! i’m so grateful and i can’t wait for our episode of @kellyclarksonshow to air. 2 days… june 24! yayayay!”

2. She’s Earned Her Mother’s Praise

Following in her father’s footsteps, Carnie Wilson co-founded Wilson Phillips in 1989 with younger sister Wendy and their childhood friend, Chynna Phillips. Although only releasing two albums before disbanding in 1993, the trio scored three No. 1 hits and sold 12 million records.

Married to guitarist Rob Bonfiglio since 2000, the couple have two daughters, Lola and younger sister Luci. While Luci is partial to playing the cello, Wilson boasts that her elder child “can sing anybody in this family under the table.”

“I get emotional when I’m on stage, so I have to look the other way. I can’t look at her because I’ll be like, ‘Holy s—. This is my daughter,’” the “Hold On” singer told People last year. “To hear her sing and the audience being moved by her singing [is] one of the best feelings in my life that I’ve ever felt.”

3. She Knocked This Billie Eilish Cover Out of the Park

Not long after she began voice lessons, Lola Bonfiglio hopped on social media to share her progress. The teenager posted a video of her singing Billie Eilish’s “i love you,” and it was a hit among her followers.

“Not an easy song to sing!” one Instagram user wrote. “Lola knocked it outta the park.”
