While getting her start as a country singer, it appeared that Dolly Parton was too big to just settle with being a famous songwriter. Although writing over 3000 songs and releasing 49 studio albums, the singer also starred in numerous hit films. Taking over Nashville and Hollywood, Dolly continued to expand her empire which included a water park, a theme park, and even a dinner theater. And during that entire time, Dolly always found ways to give back. And speaking of giving back, the hitmaker recently donated a staggering amount to the Salvation Army.

With the holiday season underway, families prepare for another year of food and presents. But for some, it is a time of struggling as many try to make ends meet. While families all over the country continue to live paycheck to paycheck, Dolly decided to spread a lot of Christmas cheer when she donated a whopping $1 million to the Salvation Army.
Thrilled about the donation from Dolly, the Salvation Army’s National Commander Kenneth G. Hodder praised the singer for embracing the holiday spirit. Releasing a statement, it read, “Ms. Parton is once again ringing in hope and holiday spirit through another incredibly generous donation. Ahead of this Christmas season, when hope is needed more than ever, we are honored and grateful to receive this gift which will help The Salvation Army serve millions of individuals and families during a time of vital need.”
Dolly Parton Always Willing To Help Salvation Army
Revealing what would happen to the massive donation from Dolly, Hodder added, “With the help of generous contributions like Parton’s during the holidays, The Salvation Army can meet the immediate and long-term needs of millions of individuals and families.”

Outside of donating $1 million, Dolly also helped spread awareness about the Salvation Army just last year when she performed during the Salvation Army’s 27th annual Red Kettle Campaign Kickoff halftime show. Taking the stage wearing the famous Dallas Cowboys cheerleader outfit, the singer’s manager, Danny Nozell, revealed, “When she came out, myself, the security and my staff fainted. I couldn’t tell the difference between Dolly and the cheerleaders. That is the genius of Dolly, and people are still talking about it.”
