The White Stripes Celebrate Album ‘Get Behind Me Satan’ With a 20th Anniversary Reissue

Throughout the band’s 13 years in the spotlight, The White Stripes recorded hit songs like “We’re Going to Be Friends”, “Fell in Love With a Girl”, and “Seven Nation Army.” Sadly, in 2011, both Jack White and Meg White decided to end the band. While not releasing any new music, the band continues to entertain fans all over the world. And just last year, The White Stripes were nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Although no longer a group, it seems the White Stripes are celebrating their fifth album Get Behind Me Satan with a reissue.

Back in 2005, The White Stripes thrilled fans when they released Get Behind Me Satan. The album came packed with songs including “Blue Orchid” and “My Doorbell.” With the reissue titled Get Behind Me Satan XX, the release marked the 20th anniversary of the album.

Teasing the new release that comes packed with demos, studio recordings, and even footage from their tour, Third Man Records shared a post on Instagram, showing what the vinyl would look like. They captioned the post, “Get Behind Me Satan is without question the most misunderstood entry in the White Stripes discography. Often mistaken as a break-up album, a treatise on fame, or a “piano” album, the record is most accurately described in Jack White’s own words as focused on the truth. The fact that it was in no way Elephant, Part 2 only further confused, infuriated, and/or beguiled many.”

Fans Have A Short Amount Of Time To Snag The Reissue From The White Stripes

Knowing the impact that the album had on the industry, Third Man Records continued to praise The White Stripes. “Twenty years later and the album still stands out for how fresh and how timeless it sounds. In the face of newfound worldwide commercial success, no other contemporary rock band had the stones to introduce mandolin, tympani, hand bells and marimba into their arsenal, let alone embark on deep tours of both Central America and Eastern Europe.”

While Third Man Records was excited about the release, they urged fans to get in line before time ran out. “Third Man Records is proud to announce Get Behind Me Satan XX, the twentieth anniversary companion release to the White Stripes fifth album and the 63rd entry of its long-running vinyl subscription service The Vault. Deadline to subscribe for this package is January 31st, 2025 at midnight central time.”
