Helping gain her footing in the music industry, Beyoncé offered her talents to Destiny Child. Considered one of the best-selling girl groups of all time, the singer decided to venture out on a solo career. And over the next few decades, Beyoncé sold over 200 million albums and holds the most Grammy awards. And speaking of the Grammys, the star crossed a major milestone on Sunday when she walked away with an award for Best Country Album and Album of the Year. Shocked by the announcement, it seemed that Beyoncé forgot to thank her daughter Rumi during her acceptance speech.

Back in March 2024, Beyoncé decided to enter into the world of country music when she released her debut country album Cowboy Carter. Featuring hit songs like “Texas Hold ‘Em”, the album gained high praise from fans. And it seemed like the Grammys agreed when they called her name for Best Country Album and Album of the Year.
While dominating the awards, Beyoncé told the crowd, “Wow, I’d like to thank my beautiful family, all of the artists that were collaborators, thank you, this wouldn’t have been this album without you. I’d like to thank God again, and my fans, and I still am in shock. So, thank you so much for this honor.”

Beyoncé Tells Aspiring Artists To “Stay Persistent”
Although surprised by the award, Beyoncé made sure to remember Rumi when speaking to Entertainment Tonight after the event. “Rumi – who’s on the album, my youngest daughter – she was watching.” She continued, “I forgot to thank her so I get to thank her now. Thank you, Rumi.”
While Cowboy Carter featured numerous collaborations, Rumi made an appearance on the album in the song “Protector.” Wanting to honor everybody who helped make the album a success, Beyoncé noted, “I really was not expecting this, wow. I want to thank God that I’m able to still do what I love after so many years. I’d like to thank all of the incredible country artists that accepted this album, we worked so hard on it.”
Beyoncé ended her speech, telling those trying to leave their mark on the music industry to “stay persistent.”
