Over the weekend, Kelsea Ballerini performed at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida. During her set, she performed the fan favorite “Penthouse.” However, she stopped mid-song to chastise some of her fans after they had some choice words about her ex-husband Morgan Evans.

Ballerini and Evans went through a public divorce in 2022. The experience inspired her to release her Rolling Up the Welcome Mat EP. The release saw the singer/songwriter dealing with the heartbreaking turn of events through songs including “Penthouse.” Fans have fallen in love with the song over the years and regularly sing along during concerts.
In the video above, Ballerini and the crowd sing the song’s chorus: It hurts putting sh*t in a box / And now we don’t talk. / And it stings rolling up the welcome mat / Knowing you got half. During concerts, fans rell the “You got half” line. Also, many add “f**k you, Morgan!” during the pause between the chorus and verse. Ballerini is tired of hearing the latter. She let fans know how she felt about during her Florida show.
“Guys, we have to stop saying that,” she told the crowd after pausing the song. “Seriously, we’re three years past it. Everything’s fine now,” she added. Ballerini went on to say that she sings the songs for her fans now. She has moved on and is in a happy relationship. So, she doesn’t need the song to help her heal anymore.
Kelsea Ballerini Has Had Issues During Recent Concerts
This weekend’s issue with fans cussing out her ex-husband isn’t the only concert hurdle Kelsea Ballerini has faced recently. Earlier this month, she had to cut her show at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York short due to illness.
Ballerini was five songs into her set when she realized she couldn’t continue the show. She left the stage and a member of her team came out to let the crowd know the show was over. “This is the conversation I did not want to have tonight. She just can’t finish, she is too sick and we’ve given everything, we’ve tried to do it,” they told the disappointed fans. “We unfortunately cannot finish the show tonight. I do not know much beyond that. We are going to look at options and you will be receiving emails,” the added.
She will return to Buffalo for a makeup show at the end of her tour.
