The final night of Blind Auditions is officially in the books. After five episodes and a handful of thrilling four-chair turns, The Voice kicks off night one of the Battles Round, tonight at 8/7c on NBC.

John Keeps Both Nell and Olivia
Just as John predicted, Nell and Olivia both blew their performance out of the water. After much deliberation, he declared Olivia as the winner. It wasn’t all bad news for Nell, as John pressed his button to save her. Adam had other plans, though, pressing his button to steal Nell. Ultimately, Nell stuck with John and decided to stay on Team Legend.
John Predicts He'll Use His Save
Nell Simmons and Olivia Kuper Harris were prepared to bring the “divine feminine energy” to their cover of Roberta Flack’s “Feel Like Makin’ Love.” John was so impressed by the ladies’ rehearsal that he predicted he’d be using his one and only save to keep both of the women on his team.
Michael Sees His "Favorite Duet" of the Day
Michael was wowed by Fran and Ethan, telling the duo that it was his “favorite duet” of the day. While Michael said he’d pick Ethan to win, John said he’d go with Fran. Ultimately, it was up to Adam, though, and he declared Ethan the winner of the battle.
Adam Gives Life Advice
Adam paired Fran Posla and Ethan Eckenroad together to sing “July,” a song by Leon Bridges and Noah Cyrus. Adam and Kate didn’t have many vocal notes for the duo, but urged them to be more connected in the performance. The best moment of rehearsals came when Ethan asked Adam how to balance family and career, and the Maroon 5 frontman and dad of three happily obliged, noting that family is the most important thing.
John Saves Tatum!
After Tatum tearfully thanked Kelsea for the opportunity, she walked off the stage dejected. That journey was interrupted when John pressed his button to steal Tatum and get her on his team.
Kelsea Dances Through the Battle
Kelsea was clearly impressed by both Angie and Tatum, as she proudly swayed, danced, and cheered the whole time they performed. “I know them!” Kelsea exclaimed after the song wrapped. Kelsea wound up picking Angie as the winner.
Angie Rey and Tatum Scott Make Things Hard for Kelsea
Kelsea paired Angie Rey and Tatum Scott, two of her young stars, together to sing Maren Morris’ song, “Girl.” The ladies got good advice from both Little Big Town and Kelsea, the latter of whom remarked, “This decision hurts my feelings already and I haven’t made it yet.”
Kelsea Ballerini Gets Four Advisors
Kelsea Ballerini bucked the system when she asked Little Big Town to serve as her advisor for the Battle Round, getting not one, but four advisors. Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Phillip Sweet, and Jimi Westbrook were all at Team Kelsea’s disposal as the rookie coach prepped her team.
Michael Praises a "Super Star"
Britton and Darius Wow the Coaches
Britton and Darius each got the chance to show off their unique vocal styles during the battle. They even earned a standing ovation from all four coaches.
Adam Levine Goes Acoustic
After Team Adam’s Britton Moore and Darius J performed Radiohead’s “Creep” for the first time, the coach decided to turn it into an acoustic song. When rehearsals wrapped, Hudson marveled over how the guys’ voices are “very different, but surprisingly wonderful together.”
“The person that really feels it is going to make or break the battle,” she predicted.
Adam Levine and Kate Hudson Went to High School Together?!
Adam Levine kicked off the Battles by inviting his high school pal, Kate Hudson, to advise his team. While people know her as an actress, Adam assured viewers that she’ll be able to her bring musical knowledge to his singers.
The Battle Rounds Are Underway
Just minutes ahead of The Voice‘s season 27 Battle Round, the show’s Instagram account shared pics teasing what fans can expect from the installment. While there’s a photo of all four coaches smiling together included, the real focus is on the contestants, who will face off against one of their teammates in an effort to make it to the Knockout Round.
