Foreigner Announces Canadian Tour Without Lead Singer Kelly Hansen

The ’80s rock band, Foreigner, recently announced their 2025 fall Canadian tour. Starting on October 21 in St. John’s, Newfoundland, and concluding on November 7 in Kelowna, British Columbia, the rockers will play all their greatest hits with the supporting band, 54-40. However, there is one major difference in this upcoming tour, and that is the absence of longtime vocalist and frontman, Kelly Hansen.

Kelly Hansen joined the group in 2005 after leaving the group, Hurricane Unruly Child. However, Hansen is stepping back, as the band announced that their new lead vocalist for their tour will be Geordie Brown. In the recent past, Hansen has said he wants to focus on other endeavors such as his wife and family. So, it seems he is now getting time to do so.

Ahead of this tour’s announcement, Hansen told Blabbermouth in 2023, “I have a lot to do before this winds up. I just got married over two years ago, and I look forward to spending time with my wife and family and making plans for what is the next step in our future. Because I have other interests; I wanna do other things.” These comments came after Foreigner announced their 2023 Farewell Tour. Even though Hansen will be missed, it seems the group found a more than qualified-replacement.

About Foreigner’s New Lead Singer—Geordie Brown

Before Brown became the new lead singer of Foreigner, he played the male lead in the workshop production of Foreigner’s Juke Box Hero, The Musical in 2018 in Calgary, Edmonton, and Toronto. Given his on-stage experience, it seems Mick Jones and the rest of Foreigner saw him as a perfect fit.

Regarding the selection, Jones stated, “I was most impressed by Geordie’s performances of Juke Box Hero, The Musical in Canada” and “He is not only a consummate vocalist, but a verified Broadway actor to boot. We look forward to welcoming him at our shows on Foreigner’s 2025 Canadian tour,” per UCR.

Hansen not being featured on this upcoming tour has surely surprised fans. However, it seems Geordie Brown will fill in quite nicely given his connection to the band and their music.
