Legendary Patti LaBelle Takes the Stage With Former Contestant Kolbi Jordan During ‘American Idol’ Grand Finale

American Idol is sparing no expense for this Grand Finale. Among the performers tonight was the legendary Patti LaBelle, who took the stage for a shimmering performance. She was joined by former contestant Kolbi Jordan.

LaBelle and Jordan performed “Lady Marmalade,” a song first made famous by the group LaBelle in 1974. Jordan joined her idol Patti LaBelle on the main stage dressed in an elegant gold gown, hitting every note perfectly and getting the crowd on their feet. She and LaBelle embraced after hitting their final elaborate, sky-high notes.

Jordan was the first contestant to receive a Platinum Ticket this season, and she went on to reach the Top 24. She auditioned with Chrisette Michele’s song “Epiphany,” earning unanimous yeses from the three judges.

American Idol Pairs Past and Current Contestants With Iconic Artists for Grand Finale

Along with Kolbi Jordan being paired with Patti LaBelle for a Grand Finale performance, many other former contestants are performing with iconic artists. The Top 3 finalists are also taking the stage alongside established performers.

Former American Idol hopeful Canaan James Hill joined gospel singer Kirk Franklin. They performed a rendition of Franklin’s songs “Melodies From Heaven” and “Love Theory.”

Additionally, Christian singer-songwriter Brandon Lake joined finalist Breanna Nix to perform Lake’s song “Daddy’s DNA.” Artist-in-residence Jelly Roll performed with finalist Jamal Roberts, singing his tracks “Unpretty” and “Liar.” Finally, Luke Bryan joined finalist John Foster, singing “Deeper Than the Holler.”

Other performers include all three judges singing “Stuck On You,” The War and Treaty performing with former contestant Thunderstorm Artis, and Goo Goo Dolls singing “Iris” with Mattie Pruitt.
