Besides spending decades in country music, George Strait received the title “King of Country Music” not because of his age, but for his contributions. While it can be incredibly difficult to pick a favorite Strait song, most tend to point to “Amarillo by Morning” or “The Cowboy Rides Away.” But outside of the studio, the singer also helped inspire numerous singers to pick up the guitar and explore a career in music. And it seemed that one of the people was Laci Kaye Booth as she recently released her song “George F****** Strait”, which caused Aaron Watson to call her a “Poo Poo Mouth.”

Although still finding her footing in the music industry, Booth gained a sizable following when she released her song “Shuffle” in 2021. She followed it up with her 2024 record The Loneliest Girl In The World. And during her set at the CMA Fest, she discussed her newest music video for “George F****** Strait” and how upset people were over the title. “I just released it yesterday, and it’s making a lot of old biddies on Facebook mad. Cause it’s called ‘George F****** Strait.”
While not remotely bothered by the few who took issue with the title, Booth did share a video from Watson, who made his thoughts clear. In the video, in which Booth mocked the singer, Watson declared, “Y’all, I just heard a new song and the title is literally ‘George ******* Strait.’ That’s the title. George’s middle name is not the F-word, honey. It’s Harvey. George Harvey Strait. Harvey. Poo poo mouth.”
Fans Split Over Laci Kaye Booth And “George F****** Strait”
Although Watson might have taken issue with the title, the lyrics showcased exactly what Booth thought of Strait. “I bet it’s Texas, the way he’s walking/Tall drink of water and a ten gallon hat/Faded ring on his pocket/Can’t mind my business when he’s looking like that/Boy, they still make ’em just like they used to/He got the manners of a Southern Baptist saint/He got a wrench, I got a screw loose/He got me bucking right out the starting gate/Lord, if I can’t have him/ I’ll get on my knees and pray God, give me a man that just gets better with age/Like George ****** Strait.”
Alongside Watson, fans were somewhat split over the lyrics and title with some writing, “Swear you are the lana del rey of country, I love your sound and your lyrics.” Another person added, “Everything about her makes me scream, “NO!” But, darn it, I like her anyway. I hope she sells a squillion albums and becomes the new Loretta Lynn with a 60 year career.” While some praised her, at the same time, others suggested, “This song is a perfect shining example of what’s gone wrong with country music.”
